Our Mission

At The Open Lab Initiative, we believe talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. With 3.5 million STEM jobs projected to go unfilled in the US, the need to bring more students into science, technology, engineering, and math has never been greater. We provide free, hands-on workshops in coding, robotics, and engineering to students from low-income backgrounds, sparking curiosity and building the confidence to pursue careers in fields like mechatronics, quantum computing, and beyond. By closing the opportunity gap early, we open doors to top universities, emerging technologies, and a future where every student, regardless of background or gender, has a seat at the table.
